About the Event

When it comes to representing our past, nothing lets us live closer to antiquity than gaming.  Through video games, board games, and roleplaying, we can experience history interactively.  That interactivity gives us a unique perspective on how history works, and how we fit inside of the past.  All of which makes archaeogaming, the intersection of gaming and ancient history, an exciting new area of scholarship and exploration.

This special session on archaeogaming will be a discussion among scholars and gamers in the field, including the Father of Archaeogaming - Andrew Reinhard, Hamish Cameron, Kate Cook, Briana Jackson, Adam Bierstedt (Ludohistory), and Julie Levy (moderator).

Topics under discussion include:

  • Defining the scope of archaeogaming
  • The relationship of fun and scholarship
  • The study of games as art and archaeology

RSVP and join us for this lively discussion!
