Who were the Vikings? While the increased popularity of the Norse in the media has made them more accessible and appealing, it has also blurred the line between fact and fiction, raising big question marks on several matters. Most of you are likely aware that Vikings did not wear horned helmets or drink from skull cups, well-known Viking stereotypes. Some may also recognise that not all Scandinavians were Vikings; many lived as peaceful farmers, blacksmiths, traders, and fishermen, never setting foot on a ship or participating in raids. Additionally, some of you might know that Vikings were not as barbarian as they are sometimes depicted.
