About the Event

JRR Tolkien inspired much of his creations from reading ancient and classical texts.  In this reading group we go looking for those references while we explore the overall topic of myth making and the importance it has had through history, to the point of inspiring popular culture and helping so many people foreign to history engage with it.

Understanding how pop culture and history as much closer linked together than first thought. The knowledge of different ancient texts across different European civilizations from ancient Greece to the Celts, ancient Finland and the Norse. Reflection on the intersectionality of history and our societies. Critical thinking on myth making.

MUST RSVP TO GET THE LIVE SYLLABUS WITH ZOOM LINK.
